"Look left before crossing
road".. "Mind the gap between train and the platform"..
Few of the signages and announcements on
london roads and tubes reminded me of the good old school days .. It's kind of
funny maybe for someone from Mumbai where these stuff are not spelled out and we don't have time to read them either.. In any case, its been 10 days since I landed in London and...
.. before I pen down more thoughts about
London, a quick recap...
The plan started with my boss asking me
whether I would be ready to relocate to London for there was a vacancy at our
UK office.. "European crisis, doube dip
recessions, unemployments, job losses".. Phew!! the newspapers and electronic
media were kind of offering me reasons for thinking before I agree to the
offer.. But then I thought 'Why scratch my heads about all this stuff?? Let the
politicians work on this while I go out of India to explore an entire different
world..different culture..meet different people..see new places...and ofcourse do some company work too ;-)'
So here I am in the land of people whose
grandfathers ruled India for about 2 centuries ...and as much as i have seen over past few days, it's an amazing city with people from varied cultures.. truly cosmopolitan..
not been much site-seeing still..busy with
office work, commuting and house-hunting.. Tubes are lifeline to this city just
like local trains are to Mumbai.. Only difference being that the tubes don't
start till the doors are shut and mumbaikars don't stop climbing till the train
doesn't start.. Travel time for me has been pretty much the same i.e around 1
hour each side. But the only good thing about that is that I am not driving and
I can utilise the time reading or looking around..
Agenda for the next week : I need to
finalise a house for family to move in..badly missing wifey n kiddo...I asked
Roshni today whether Arnav has grown up! She said its only been just over a
week ..but it just feels so long time already!!.. So I hope I could get the home in place so
that I can quickly go back to India to get them here..
That's it for now.. More blogs to follow
Cheers...
p.s : I have realised that Londoners drink beer a lot ... u get out of offices and find people standing in queues outside pubs to grab a pint !! so cheers again ;-)
